Exchange 2007 setting "send as" rights results in "You do not have the permission to send the message on behalf of the specified user" error message
Setting the Send As rights on a mailbox results in the "You do not have the permission to send the message on behalf of the specified user". It only seems to be some mailboxes, but cant remember the last mailbox to give the same error. I understand it can take up to 2 hrs for the Information Store Cache to refresh, but surely it should just say "you do not have permissions to send as this user" as nothing was changed in the Send on Behalf settings. There are 3 users in the Send on Behalf settings though I don't see how this causes this message to appear.

Hello Ron,Send on behalf of settings will take precedance over the send as settings. I would suggest keeping either of it.Indeed you will have to wait till the store cache updates yet, you may also want to check if the objects and permissions on it are replicating across DCs correctly. I hope you have followed the steps at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125118(EXCHG.65).aspxM Milind Naphade | MCTS:M | http://www.msexchangegeek.com

Hi, Please understand the below scenario: 1. A delegate account that has Full Mailbox Access permission 2. If a delegate account also has Full Mailbox Access permission to a mailbox, the delegate user can send as the mailbox owner without having the Send As permission specified. By default, delegate accounts do not have Full Mailbox Access permission to the mailbox. Hi, Apologies I mean't to say i was using Exchange 2007 SP1 only and that link is for Exchange 2003. I understand the precedance, just it doesn't happen every time. Just some users seem to get the "You do not have the permission to send the message on behalf of the specified user" when I give them full Send As rights for the first time (and never touched any other delegate rights nor the Send on Behalf rights). They do get these rights successfully usually within the 2 hour refresh.
